These gatherings are meant to foster community spirit and are open to all residents on your block, so it's encouraged to engage with your neighbors for participation.

If you're interested in requesting a bouncy house through the city's Jumping Jack program, please note that these requests are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend submitting your requests promptly. The application period for the Jumping Jack Program begins on April 17, 2023, and these attractions can be requested for block parties occurring from May 27th through September 3rd.

In 1996, the City of Chicago began requiring permits for garage, yard, and apartment sales to guard against perpetual yard sales. Residents planning to hold garage, yard and apartment sales can obtain their required permits through our office. There is no fee for obtaining these permits. Please complete the form below and note the rules and restrictions on the first page of the application form. The Chicago City Clerk oversees our city's residential permit parking program, which was established to ensure that parking on residential streets primarily serves the residents of those blocks. Residential permit parking is most appropriate near train stations and active commercial districts, where the risk of commuters parking or shoppers occupying spaces is higher. Conversely, it is not typically implemented in densely populated residential areas, where the majority of parked vehicles belong to residents who live on or near the block.

If you or your neighbors wish to pursue residential permit parking, we kindly request that you initiate the process by contacting or visiting our office to gather more information. Following this, you can circulate a petition among your block's residents and submit it to our office. Once the petition signatures have been verified, our office will present the request for residential permit parking to the Chicago City Council and the City Clerk for review and recommendations.

Letter of Exception Residents may apply for a Letter of Exception when seeking permission to park within a permit zone area where they do not reside. We prioritize exceptions for individuals who:

1. Have disabilities
2. Are seniors aged 64 and older
3. Reside in a corner house or apartment, or within a one-block radius of the zone in any cardinal direction
4. Work as homecare, healthcare, or caregivers on the block

Speed humps serve as a traffic calming measure designed to enhance the safety of our community. Residents can request the installation or removal of speed humps through the Chicago Department of Transportation. It's important to note that our requirement is to secure signatures from 60% of the buildings on the affected block to support the installation or removal of speed humps, rather than 60% of the total residents. For example, if there are 15 buildings on both sides of the block, the petition should be signed by at least one person from at least 9 buildings. When it comes to speed humps being installed in an alley, signatures from buildings on both sides of the alley are necessary. Once you have a completed petition, please submit it to our office in person or via email at 7th@gregmitchell7thward.org. Make sure to include 'Speed Hump Petition Form' in the email subject line."

The Senior Citizen Sewer Exemption entitles seniors aged 65 or over, residing in their own residence with separate metered water service or a separate city water assessment for that residential unit, to an exemption from payment of the sewer service charge for their residence. This exemption provides substantial savings to seniors.
